What has been the biggest change to your nutrition habits in the last 6 months: after realising that trying to look after my nutrition I went out and got some professional help. I started tracking my calorie intake for the first time in November and with help started to continually tweak how much of what I was eating. I was stoked to learn that I could eat way more carbs than I ever thought I could! What it really came down to was a few key things; firstly trying to regulate my calorie intake so it was more linear rather than having huge spikes and then restricting to make up for it. A lot of this came down to changing my attitude towards food and trying to get rid of the guilt I felt around eating.

Sport:  Olympic Weightlifting

Level of competition (local/state/national/international)  - National

Training History (how long have you been in the sport) – trained in the sport for 8mths prior to competition

Current goal:  to transition in to being a well rounded AFL athlete

What has been the biggest change to your nutrition habits in the last 6 months:  the education I have gained through working with professionals on how to manipulate diets in order to achieve particular results. Over the last 6mths I have invested in learning from some of the best in the business to cut down to a weight class, and return to a stable baseline with minimal, if any, compromise in strength and performance. I now use this knowledge and skills learnt to manipulate my diet to achieve smaller goals.

Favourite Food:  Got to love a good sourdough.

Biggest sporting achievement to date:  Racing as a professional cyclist for the Faren Honda Team in 2012, Placing 4th in the u58 National Australian Weightlifting Championships 2017 and now playing first grade club AFL in Canberra. I’m am most proud of the level I’ve been able to compete at in a variety of sports.
